Overview

  • The National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) provides funding to people with disability in Australia to exercise choice and control over the support they receive. The Scheme is designed to increase opportunities, as well as social and economic participation of people with disabilities. Are you interested in understanding how you can assist NDIS participants to explore and benefit from this revolution in social policy?
  • At ϳԹ, this degree is delivered completely online and via part-time study only, meaning you can balance life’s other commitments. Unlike other NDIS-related qualifications, the ϳԹ Graduate Certificate of NDIS Studies ensures the experiences, voices, and perspectives of people with disability are at the core of your learning.
  • Throughout the 4 courses, you will develop skills to explore, co-design and collaborate alongside people with disability, as they are empowered to confidently self-direct their own NDIS packages. You will examine how disability is constructed in contemporary society and gain an in-depth understanding of NDIS, its stakeholders, strengths, and challenges through the eyes and experiences of people with disabilities.
  • Explore the delicate balance between meeting service provider obligations and maintaining quality standards without compromising the rights and autonomy of people with disability.
  • Supported by experienced academics, industry professionals and advocates for equity, you will gain a thorough understanding of the NDIS and its historical and contemporary context, equipping you with frameworks to co-design solutions and challenge outdated practices.

Career outcomes

  • With strong employment prospects in the NDIS and disability sector, this qualification is designed for professionals with an interest in rethinking how disability care and support has been traditionally provided.
  • Prospective students and their related careers may include: working in the NDIS and desiring additional expertise including leadership roles; wanting to upskill existing with NDIS-related specialised knowledge, seeking to change existing service infrastructure; or contemplating a transition into the NDIS landscape.
  • This degree will diversify the skillsets of a range of different professionals including allied health professionals, social workers, human services professionals, psychologists, educators and lawyers but also NDIS support and services employees who hold undergraduate qualifications.

Entry requirements

  • Completion of an Australian university 3-year bachelor degree, or equivalent, and a minimum of 2 years' full-time relevant professional work experience in a related field at supervisory or equivalent level.
